My product aimed to represent the complexities and struggles of being a teenager. The combination of lots of free time and financial incapabilities can put teens in lots of trouble or situations that they don’t think they would end up in. The film aimed to show the stereotypical chaotic teenage boys and struggles they usually encounter. The film emphasizes the issue behind too much free time for teenagers which can get teens into trouble. It is healthy for teenagers to have jobs, hobbies, or play sports. These activities keep teens out of doing risky activities in their free time. Another social group that my film represented was the socioeconomic struggles the teens faced. The socioeconomic struggles the teens faced prevented them from doing things that normal teenagers can do. This caused them to engage in dangerous activity in order to have the opportunity that other teenagers have. The film overall aims to represent the issues that teenagers face and the poor decisions they can make when they are met with a combination of too much free time and not much money to work with. It urges the audience to think about the complex social, economic, and psychological elements that could affect teenagers' behavior. The elements in the film work together to make a sense of branding using multiple different techniques. The visual elements play a significant role in creating the film's branding. One way a sense of branding is created is through props, costumes, music, and editing. These aspects combine to make a unique branding in a film that is like no other. Other aspects are also used to create a sense of branding. The camera angles, movements, and transitions are also utilized for this specific purpose. They incite the intended mood for the audience. Different angles are intended to bring out certain moods in the audience. Another way branding is created is through the sounds. Certain music plays a huge role in expressing a scene or a shot. Another way sound plays a role is through sound effects. Sound effects create an aesthetic in shots that angle can't. Editing also creates a sense of branding. The implementation of transitions creates connections through shots in the film. Editing adds a set pace to the film that the audience can feel. Overall, a combination of these aspects is necessary in creating a sense of branding in film. These aspects have the purpose of drawing certain moods and expression in the viewer. The consistent use of these elements helps establish and maintain a distinct tone, style, and message throughout the film, creating a unique and memorable experience for the audience. The film also used strategic techniques in order to engage the audience. One of the main strategies used to engage the audience was through using stereotypical characters and situations. The benefit of expressing the stereotypical teenage boy is for the purpose that the audience is familiar with the character. This familiarity causes the audience to be able to relate to the characters in multiple ways. More specifically, teenagers will most likely relate to the characters as well because they could be in similar situations. Another way the film engages the audience is through the sounds of the film. The music and sound effects in the bank robbery scene express a mood that engages the audience during the climax scene. The film also engages the audience by including a deeper meaning in the film. Including a deeper meaning in film can also relate to audiences who do not directly relate to the plot of the film, meaning reckless teenage boys. This deeper lesson can also teach morals to the youth audience. Another way the audience was engaged was through promotional strategies. Social media accounts on several different platforms including Instagram and Facebook. These accounts promoted and hinted at the film. This gave the audience excitement and anticipation to see the film. One of the most effective ways the audience was engaged was through an unexpected ending to the film. A plot twist to a film keeps the audience awake and aware for anything. This keeps the audience better engaged than a normal ending like the teens getting away with the money because its not expected by the audience which causes the audience to acknowledge the creativity in the film. Research played a huge role in the film. This is mainly because the film is very conventional. Some research I did was looking through action movies and looking through movies that express the teenage boy stereotype. I used the research in action movies mainly to coordinate the shots, music, and mis-en-scene in the robbery scene. I did this in order to replicate the action movie energy in action films. I looked at movies that follow the teenage boy stereotype I was looking for in order to find what props, costumes, dialogue, and shots give off the reckless teenage boy stereotype. I mainly used this research for the first scene of the film. Next, I looked into bank robbery films to see what happens throughout all of them. For example, the sound of the alarm, the money in the bag, and the cash register sound effect are all heavily prevalent in most bank robbery scenes in film. Overall, the research I did really played a significant role in implementing and informing the products involved in this project. I was able to develop real characters, challenge genre tropes while simultaneously exploring them, show the results and moral ramifications of the characters' decisions, and experiment with novel technical components to improve the storytelling.
