  7.2 is a 14-minute action/dark comedy movie. Directed by Nida Manzoor, the film follows Cleopatra. A British boarding school student who was bullied and beat up to where she has lost her memory. Yet, everyone in the school hates her. She does not know who she is or why they hate her. Another girl, who claims to be her best friend, seems to be in a panic about something Cleopatra did. She ends up going on an adventure until she ends up facing off against her bully once more. This altercation results in Cleopatra gaining all her memory back.    Common sound: Specifically, the film uses non-diegetic sound. Excluding when Cleopatra's phone ringtone goes off. This non-diegetic sound helps build the suspense and action within the film. Very similar to the sound in the movie Top Gun.    Common Mis-En-Scene: The costumes in this movie were school uniforms. The lighting is reminiscent of an action film as it is dark, there is visible sweat and blood on the characters' faces.   Comm

  Short film research: Emergency Action Plan   Emergency action plan is an action/dark comedy short film. I chose it on the website shortoftheweek.com. It was hilarious, moving, and relatable. The movie follows our main character played the films director, Dylan Redford. He is in a 1 on 1 talk with someone discussing how he prepared for an active shooter drill his work planned to conduct. As he tells the story, a reenactment is shown. At the end we see the man has become the shooter. All his hard work preparing to be in the drill has made him the shooter. It is ironic and sad.    Common sound: There is suspenseful music. An orchestra with violins playing a loud, grand number throughout the film.   Common CLAMPS: Low angle, pan, eye level shot, guns, explosions, extreme close-up.    Common edits: Use of VFX, increase of shutter speed, jump cuts, and cross cuts   Common sounds used in Action: Loud bangs, car changing gears, yelling voices, punch sound effect, and loud footsteps.    Som

 For short film research i decided to watch the short film, Jet by Jordan Chesney. I looked for similarities between the action genre and this film. These are some of the similarities i found Common Sound: The film similarly uses non-diegetic sound to use intense music in tense parts of the film. The film also uses background music to express emotion in the film. The film also uses sound effects which could be used in action films as well. The film also uses diegetic sound to express the importance of every single little move made.  Common Mis-En-Scene: The film uses similar costume to the action genre with a messy, dirty, costumes. The film also uses similar lighting to show the sweat on characters which brings out the intensity. The film also uses prop weapons which is something that would be used in a action film. The film also uses background music to express emotion in the film. The film also uses sound effects which could be used in action films as well. Common Mis-En-Scene: The film uses similar costume to the action genre with a messy, dirty, costumes. The film also uses similar lighting to show the sweat on characters which brings out the intensity. The film also uses prop weapons which is something that would be used in a action film. Common Editing: Common editing between the film and the action genre is the use of lots of jump cuts and the use of blur in some scenes.   The words short film are a teaser. Although the name may sound like it's an easy quick process, short films take a lot of time, effort, and energy. I learned from this video that planning is one of, if not the, most crucial of all steps in the short film making process. One of the most key takeaways in planning I got from this video is that it is crucial to write for the kind of movie you are trying to make. Now this sounded obvious until I thought about it deeper. When writing our script and planning for the creation of our movie it is key that we do not bite off more than we can chew, meaning do not try to incorporate things into our film that we know will not be possible for us to create. For example, we must make sure we do not go over budget and include pieces that will cost more than we would be willing to spend, and not writing for a cast that would include more than the people we know will be accessible to us.        Le Jetee and the remake 12 Monkeys have many similarities, one would assume with the tag of a remake, but also contrast quite variably in the way they are produced and shown on screen. Le Jetee is a strange film in the fact that it is not actually a fluid motion picture but instead a photo novel of still pictures about a post-nuclear war experiment in time travel. On the other hand, 12 monkeys is a motion picture about a convict that is sent back in time to gather information about a man-made virus that wiped out most of the human population on the planet. Both movies can be broadened up into the genre of sci-fi, as much of the movie's take place in futuristic worlds where time travel exists. One of the biggest takeaways I got from watching this video is that remakes are able to live up to the feeling of original movies if they are done properly. This relates to our project in that we can take certain aspects of well-made movies and use them as inspiration and guideline

  Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie   Short film 9 begins with a very dark and ominous setting. We noticed quickly that the genre was very similar to the action genre and contained a lot of its aspects. The entire film was an action/thriller. There were multiple jump scares and fight scenes. There was lots of dark imagery as well as lots of CGI like a typical action movie. The plot of the film was short obviously, due to it being a short film the viewer is thrown into the beginning to the middle of a longer story. It follows the character 9 as he seeks vengeance for his friends and defeats the monster who once killed his old friends. There is truly little character development, but an example is in the beginning the character 9 was scared but now he is brave.  Sound effects are a big part of the short film as there is no dialogue, however there are many unique sound effects and loud crashes which are conventional in the action genre.        It is finally official! Our genre of choice for our film is action! Our group loves action movies, like John Wick, James Bond, and Top Gun. Though our favorite action movie is the new Batman movie on HBO Max. These movies are so amazing and really gave us a wonderful baseline for what our movie should look like. Although action was our most favorable genre, we almost chose a few different genres. One of the choices we favored was the thriller genre. The thriller genre is remarkably similar to action. The action and thriller genre often are blurred because action movies tend to have a lot of thrilling moments in them. But for our movie, where characters rob a bank, action seems appropriate . It does not seem like we need to tweak our pitch. Not a big tweak at least. We have always had the plan of doing a bank robbing film. Action seemed perfect and fit the best to our pitch.   Today marks the beginning of our groups genre research! In order to gain a better understanding of what we want our film to encapsulate, we organized a plan to research different genres of film and pick out which genre best suited the concept of our film. The three genres that we have decided to research and pick from are thriller, action, and sci-fi. These genres have a variety of differences and we want to make sure that we pick the genre that will best fit our movie, so we began work researching all of them. Our research plan was to first research the different movies that were associated with each genre and see if they had a similar concept to the concept we had for our movie. After watching and looking at different examples from each genre, we would then researched the common camera angles, mis- en -scene, sounds, and edits associated with each genre.        After devising our plan, we got ready to research.
