Final Task Production Blog: Sound Blog

         Last time we focused on edited and adding effects into our video. Today we focused on the audio aspect of our film. There are several different qualities to the audio part of films. The first one is the background music. We will most likely have to use royalty free music for this. The people we contacted asking for rights to their songs have yet to answer. Another aspect is sound effects. We wanted to use sound effects in our film to add intensity and tension. Another aspect is how you use or edit the audio. For example diegetic and nondiegetic sound. Today I was tasked with helping with the sound effects. While I was doing this, other members in my group were focusing on our background music and ways to edit certain sounds. Looking for the right sound effects was difficult yet fun at the same time. I enjoyed going through each sound effect on my editing software and trying to figure out ways i could implement it into the film. After I finished putting in the sound effects i thought were necessary, my group and I discussed the things we did today involving audio. We also fixed up and critiqued one another. I like how our group all focused on different aspects of the sounds and combined our work together. Overall, I think I did a good job today and I really enjoyed working with the sound effects,

 One more effort of editing from me was needed for this project. I was tasked with applying filters to the film.  For many of the clips, I looked through all the filters the editing software had to offer. In most clips I wanted to use a filter that made the picture darker to show the mood in the bank robbery scenes. For some clips it was difficult to find a good filter to express what i wanted to express from the filter into the film. I think I found the right filters though. I believe i utilized them correctly as well. I also had to adjust the color grading in the film. This was a confusing and sophisticated thing I had never done before. So I went to YouTube to learn. After some practice of some other videos, I was able to color grade my film. I strived towards making certain pictures more prominent and bright in the film to bring out the energy and intensity that a action film has to offer. My product aimed to represent the complexities and struggles of being a teenager. The combination of lots of free time and financial incapabilities can put teens in lots of trouble or situations that they don’t think they would end up in. The film aimed to show the stereotypical chaotic teenage boys and struggles they usually encounter. The film emphasizes the issue behind too much free time for teenagers which can get teens into trouble. It is healthy for teenagers to have jobs, hobbies, or play sports. These activities keep teens out of doing risky activities in their free time. Another social group that my film represented was the socioeconomic struggles the teens faced. The socioeconomic struggles the teens faced prevented them from doing things that normal teenagers can do. Production Blog- Editing

 Another day of working on our music video today was filming. We now have to edit the clips and put them all together after we've finished filming. It was a lot easier to edit because we had all of our best clips in one folder. One of the things we had to do was arrange the clips according to the plan. In the storyboard, we had previously figured out the order of the scenes. The music was then added to the video. We added the song pompeii to the music video's audio because that's the song we're making a music video for. The audio from all the other clips was then removed, leaving only the song's audio. Following that, we reduced each footage. Each clip was cut to fit the music and the tempo. We also cut it down to match the time constraints of the music video. We did this by trimming a few seconds off the end of each clip or removing scenes where we went out of character at the end of a scene and didn't stop recording in time.
