Genre Decision Blog

 After completing research for 3 different genres, we had all the information we needed to decide which one we would be using. This decision was not a simple one since this would be a very crucial choice for the entirety of the film. Therefore, we decided on making a film on Sci-fi. Sci-fi not only is enjoyable to watch, but also has endless outcomes. For other genres such as horror, there is a very well-known plot that every movie covers. The main character gets chased by the antagonist and eventually survives and kills it. Sci-fi allows us to be unique and creative and truly create an original film. Furthermore, having no boundaries. was extremely important to us. Additionally sci-fi is straight forward to film. The camera angles are generic with occasional overhead shots to show the landscape. In most Sci-fi films they show the setting multiple times as it plays key factors later. We think Sci-fi is going to be the focus of the film but will try and add comedy and jokes. Having these factors will enhance the overall film. Thankfully, with having friends as group mates we could unanimously vote on the genre. We all really thought Sci-fi fit our pitch as well as our estimate of a plan. We feel that based on the information we had all previously agreed on, Sci-fi was the most spot on genre. Also, we enjoy watching lots of films and happen to all enjoy Sci-fi the most. We know we aren't the most skilled film makers. No matter what, we will try and make it as high quality as our favorite films.

 One more effort of editing from me was needed for this project. I was tasked with applying filters to the film.  For many of the clips, I looked through all the filters the editing software had to offer. In most clips I wanted to use a filter that made the picture darker to show the mood in the bank robbery scenes. For some clips it was difficult to find a good filter to express what i wanted to express from the filter into the film. I think I found the right filters though. I believe i utilized them correctly as well. I also had to adjust the color grading in the film. This was a confusing and sophisticated thing I had never done before. So I went to YouTube to learn. After some practice of some other videos, I was able to color grade my film. I strived towards making certain pictures more prominent and bright in the film to bring out the energy and intensity that a action film has to offer. My product aimed to represent the complexities and struggles of being a teenager. The combination of lots of free time and financial incapabilities can put teens in lots of trouble or situations that they don’t think they would end up in. The film aimed to show the stereotypical chaotic teenage boys and struggles they usually encounter. The film emphasizes the issue behind too much free time for teenagers which can get teens into trouble. It is healthy for teenagers to have jobs, hobbies, or play sports. These activities keep teens out of doing risky activities in their free time. Another social group that my film represented was the socioeconomic struggles the teens faced. The socioeconomic struggles the teens faced prevented them from doing things that normal teenagers can do. Production Blog- Editing

 Another day of working on our music video today was filming. We now have to edit the clips and put them all together after we've finished filming. It was a lot easier to edit because we had all of our best clips in one folder. One of the things we had to do was arrange the clips according to the plan. In the storyboard, we had previously figured out the order of the scenes. The music was then added to the video. We added the song pompeii to the music video's audio because that's the song we're making a music video for. The audio from all the other clips was then removed, leaving only the song's audio. Following that, we reduced each footage. Each clip was cut to fit the music and the tempo. We also cut it down to match the time constraints of the music video. We did this by trimming a few seconds off the end of each clip or removing scenes where we went out of character at the end of a scene and didn't stop recording in time.
